The sale of goods and services across an impressive array of industries from renewable energy, construction, transport, interior design, furniture, fire safety, jewellery, energy and alcoholic drinks – to name but a few – have ensured that Austrian exports to Ireland are growing very healthily again.
The results have justified the decision of the Austrian government to maintain the level of investment in Ireland during the economic downturn in 2008/9.
Wilhelm Nest, Head of Advantage Austria (the Austrian Chamber of Commerce Trade Delegation) in his very interesting and detailed presentation on the Irish market also compared the relative economic strengths and weaknesses of the two countries and provided insights into the differences and similarities of business culture in Austria and Ireland.
The IBN Steering Committee would like to thank Wilhelm for his presentation and Ambassador Hanney for hosting the evening.
